Disaster Cooperativism - Earthworker webinar

June 05, 2020 at 6:30pm - 8pm
Online, Zoom event
Melbourne, VIC
Earthworker Cooperative is holding an online webinar that we believe has never been more relevant than in the time of covid-19. Cooperatives and a vastly different, worker owned, democratic economic structure is one that we believe can help to build a better world post covid. This pandemic has painfully demonstrated just how capitalism cannot deal with complex problems like climate change, social inequality and innumerable others.

We have three great panellists for the evening:

🌿 Godfrey Moase 🌿
Chairperson and Co-founder of Co-operative Power Australia and Executive Director at the United Workers Union. He is also an activist and writer who has been published numerous times.

🌿 Eleanor Coffey 🌿
Co-founder and worker-member of Redgum Cleaning Co-operative. Redgum launched in early 2018 with 5 founding members to clean homes and offices around Melbourne using eco-friendly methods. It has since doubled in size, and its members are continuously learning about cooperatively running a business. Eleanor is active in encouraging and supporting others to start their own worker cooperatives in ethical industries.

🌿 Dr Tim Thornton 🌿
Director of the School of Political Economy and is employed as a Senior Researcher Fellow at the Economics in Context Initiative at Boston University. Tim is also a Research Fellow at the Global Development and Environment Institute at Tufts University in Boston.
